📝 Review - Vixen - The Angel Anthology: Angela White

Even as a Brazzers fan myself, I too started to dream about the times where the queen of porn was still able to shoot with other studios, especially VMG. Well the time finally came. Starting with a few cryptic messages from Vixen on X, then an official trailer days later that dropped like a nuclear bomb. All of my friends where hyped af, and I wouldn't be surprised if Vixen's subscriptions hit a new high last week. But was it worth the wait? Honestly, not really. The first problem was the false advertising. The cryptic messages specifically focused on Angela White, and the final name "The Angel Anthology" had me thinking it was going to be an Angela White series spanning all VMG studios, but unfortunately that wasn't the case and this was in fact her only scene. The second problem is the scene itself. 

When the cryptic messages first started, many predicted that vixen was planning on announcing the return of Greg Lansky as director. And tbh that probably would've been a better scenario, because Greg's vision was part of what made Angela's original VMG scenes so great, and the lack of artistic vision was very apparent here. The aesthetics where mid, and Angela herself wasn't given enough direction, which meant that her full potential was never reached. It's a great scene for casual porn viewers, but for me.. I was underwhelmed.

At the start of the scene. Angela is playing the role of a famous glam photographer who's conducting an interview with a member of the press at one of her galleries. VMG's costume and makeup department is clearly still operating at peak levels because Angela looks absolutely incredible here. But then VMG's abysmal writing department starts to rear its head when the "story-line" starts developing, starting with Angela being handed an envelope by one of her staffers, which contains a newspaper clipping with the words "Contact V" written in red. Angela responds with a shocked look, then ends the interview before briskly walking over to her safe, taking out a few items and stuffing them into a duffel bag. We then cut to a shot of some random dude in a car who appears to be communicating with someone named "V" over text message, who instructs him to "get Angela now". At this point I'm thinking she's on the run from some type of mobster named V which seemed interesting. But then it takes a weird turn when Angela reaches the door to her house and is handed another envelope by her security guard (Dan Damage), who says it's from "V", the mysterious figure who's been subtly set up as a villain. 

 

I'm expecting something really scary to be inside the envelope at this point, but nope. She opens it and it is revealed to be nothing but Vixen's official "10 year Anniversary" logo printed on a piece of card, which for no reason at all instantly makes Angela go feral, thus initiating the sex scene with her security guard. Why was she alarmed by the "contact V" message? why would she need to contact him if he's already instructing people to catch her, why would he send her a message that basically says nothing, and why was she so aroused by it? Perhaps this is a tongue in cheek plot that is meant to represent Vixen as a studio finally casting Angela again, but that could've been done WAY better.

 

Anyway, the sex scene starts and we're hit with yet another modern VMG issue. There is no transition to the bedroom, no undressing or foreplay, just an immediate cut to both of them already naked and Angela teasing his cock. This wouldn't have been a big deal for most pornstars, I didn't mind it at all in Hazel Heart's scene, but when you've got Angela fucking White in the studio, you could've tried a liiiiiiitle bit harder with the plot direction.

I did love the way Angela looked in the final piledrive before the money shot, there is a reason why she's the queen after all. But in the end, the hype didn't feel justified at all. I was hoping she would perform better in a subsequent Blacked scene but that doesn't seem to be happening. Which leaves me feeling underwhelmed for sure. I guess it's back to Brazzers if I want to actually see the queen at her best.
